The 2025 Acura MDX is a favorite among Sherman Oaks, CA families, thanks to its three spacious rows of seating, cabin luxury, and premium safety features. When you’re traveling with your youngest family members, ensuring that their car seat is installed correctly is essential. Here at Acura of Sherman Oaks, our team is happy to share information on how to safely secure car seats in the 2025 Acura MDX.

Understanding the LATCH System

Like many new Acura vehicles, your Acura MDX is equipped with the advanced LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system. Compared to the traditional seat belt method of installing a car seat, the LATCH system is meant to make car seat installation simpler and safer. We’ll start with the lower anchors, which you’ll find dedicated anchor points for in the vehicle seat bight (which is where the seatback and bottom cushion meet). These are typically located in the window seats of the second row.

The Acura MDX also provides top tether anchors for all second- and third-row seating positions. These are essential for securing forward-facing seats to prevent excessive forward movement during a crash.

Second Row Versus Third Row Car Seats

The spacious second row of the Acura MDX is generally the preferred location for car seats. It offers easier access for securing the child, more room for larger car seats, and direct access to the LATCH lower anchors.

The third row is also an option for car seats, particularly booster seats or forward-facing car seats for larger children. Always ensure that you use the available top tether anchor for any forward-facing seat.
